The Business Essentials/Junior Accounting course is administered through COPE Institute, an accredited, not-for-profit private school that provides quality business and technical training to the public, which is owned and operated as a division of Agudath Israel of America, and is registered as a business school by the New York State Education Department.

Students will thoroughly learn the accounting cycle for both service and merchandising concerns. In addition, training includes accounting for branches and departments, basic manufacturing/cost accounting, introduction to government and not-for-profit accounting.

This intensive, hands-on program is taught in Brooklyn and both daytime and evening classes are available.

Designed to parallel typical ‘Accounting I’ and ‘Accounting II’ as well as Intermediate Accounting, this part of the course is the most intensive, with many hours of hands-on experience using special journals, making adjusting entries, and preparing financial statements. Very strong emphasis is placed on understanding each and every concept, as well as how it relates to the ‘big picture.’ In addition, students are assigned many hours of actual practice (both in & out of class) as well as a challenging exam after each section.

Accounting Software, Spreadsheets and Computer Literacy

An introduction to hardware, software and operating systems is followed by an intensive study of Microsoft Office, with emphasis on the Excel spreadsheet program. Features common to all Windows programs are highlighted, thereby enabling students to quickly and easily, master any Windows compatible business application.

In order to give students exposure to a broad spectrum of accounting software, assignments are completed using QUICKBOOKS ™ and other accounting packages.
